Affiliation: The Great Ten

Weapons/Equipment: Her only weapon is the Celestial Bow of Yi, a magical bow that her father had passed down to her. The bow is unbelievably powerful and allows her to strike a target on the other side of the world or even block out the sun. Despite this, however, Lan tries to only use it as an average bow.
Skills: She has remarkable marksmanship (as in an archer, not a sniper), but this is technically because of the magic from the bow. And for an unknown reason, she has amazing reflexes.

Personality: Lan is a lot of things, and more often than not, she is a complete contradiction. She's a peacemaker. She's a fighter. She's a dreamer. She's a realist. She's a coward. She's fearless. Why is this? Because when her father finally retired and passed on the identity of the Celestial Archer to her, her life, understandably, turned upside down. She'd been a sweet little girl, blissfully unaware of her fate. She was a dreamer, always wondering what she'd do with her life. (Oh how unexpected this superhero business had been!) And she hated conflict so very much for both of the reasons one could hate it. She was scared of getting hurt and she hated the thought of hurting others. Which is why she's glad that, even though she's forced to fight now, she can do so from a distance.
And you know those people with the perfect poker face, the ones who can conceal all of their emotions behind a mask? Well Lan is not one of those people. She is what people would call an open book, with all of her emotions written on her face for the world to see. This is what most people say is her biggest weakness, but she can name many more flaws that she believes to be worse than this.
History: Lan was born and raised in Tai'an, Shandong, China, the city that also happened to be her father's hometown. She had always looked up to her father, and even though she saw her mother much more, she was still closer to him. He was so brave, she always thought, to be a superhero, to be the Celestial Archer. But she always secretly longed for the day that he retired, solely so she could spend more time with him.
At the age of sixteen, her father retired and the Celestial Bow of Yi was handed down to Lan. It was a horrible day and, though she'll deny it, she cried for maybe the first time in her teenage years. Her mother tried to persuade her father not to make her do it - surely there would be more superheroes to take his place eventually - but he turned a deaf ear to her. He had enough faith in her for both of them, and then some. She didn't even need training, he'd said, the bow would teach her. And... It did. But there was something neither of her parents had ever told her. Before she was born, they'd been hoping and praying for a boy to replace Xu. When she turned out to be a girl, though, they couldn't just get rid of her. And having the law that each family could only have one child, they did nothing but hope for the best for their little daughter.
As a child, the family never travelled. She'd never even left her city. But once she'd become the Celestial Archer, she decided it was time for her to see the world. It was something she'd always wanted to do, and she had no clue how long she'd have to live now, so... Yeah. She'd travelled to America multiple times now, and though her English is very limited, she hopes to move there some day. The day that China stopped needing her, maybe...

Other kids had moments when they just hated their parents. Lots of kids did. But Lan had never thought that there’d be a time that she would too. Especially not her father. He was her hero, her idol, whatever word you wanted to use. Because when he had said that he was done with being the Celestial Archer, she thought that’d be the end of that. The end of the stupid superhero-ing. But obviously it was not, for he wanted her to replace him. Her father pushed her towards the bow and arrow he had laid out on the ground before her. She looked back at him and sniffed, trying desperately not to cry. Because she never cried. That time her father didn’t come home, she’d stayed silent. And when he finally returned, wounded like she’d never seen him before, she hadn’t said a word. But now… She just couldn’t help it. It was like the end of her present life. Just when she thought it could truly start, with her father finally becoming a normal person… But no. She’d have to start everything over as pretty much an entirely new person. But nonetheless, she reached forward and grabbed the weapon. As much as she despised her parents for making her do this, she couldn’t disappoint them. No. Never. Straightening herself up, she aimed the weapon at the makeshift target her father had prepared for her. She could hardly see a thing now, her vision clouded by her own tears, but she fired anyway. She couldn’t even tell you herself what gave her the confidence to shoot. But.. She did. She shot for the very first time, practically blinded. And after she wiped the tears from her face with her sleeve and looked back up, she saw that the arrow had hit in the dead center of the target.
